The Connecticut Coalition for Inclusive Education (CCIE) is a visionary organization advocating for quality education in general education classes and related activities in neighborhood schools for students with disabilities. The Coalition supports all students in becoming full participating members of society. The Coalition believes that inclusion is a right and is the underlying philosophy by which we educate all students.

The
Coalition believes that all public schools should be both physically and programmatically accessible to all students within its geographic boundaries. Within the classroom, the ratio of students with disabilities to students without disabilities should not exceed that of the incidence of disabilities in the general population.

The
Coalition is a statewide coalition of families, agencies, consumers, and advocates united to promote the availability of quality educational services to all students.

The
Coalition believes that all students regardless of disability receive individualized supports and services in age-appropriate general education classes.

The
Coalition believes that for those students requiring some temporary services outside of the general education classroom, that those services be physically located to facilitate maximum opportunities for interaction between students with and without disabilities.

We believe that the success of inclusion depends on the preparation of teachers which emphasizes the shared responsibility of all teachers to educate all students.

The
Coalition believes that the success of inclusion is also a result of the shared responsibility and ongoing commitment of parents, staff, administration, and boards of education.
